This study is aimed to find out the most common characteristics of good language learners. Five Indonesian learners were interviewed to find out how they learnt English and what strategies they used. They were considered as successfull language learners since they have passed some language tests with good results. All of them were holding



Australian Development Scholarship in which the awardees must have at least 500 of TOEFL score or 6.0 of IELTS. The result shows that the five learners have three characteristics of good language learners proposed by Rubin & Thompson (1982).
