Many evolutionary theorists have come to the conclusion that in the case of homo sapiens, culture has been much more important to the species evolution in the last 10,000 years than previously believed. Dawkins (1976) argues that human culture itself may be subject to the same evolutionary dynamics as biological evolution, but without its determinism. Homo sapiens, to a great extent, can choose its culture. In the discipline of economics, theorists and practitioners are coming to appreciate the overwhelming importance of culture in achieving economic growth. In turn, economic growth will, in the long run, diminish biological evolutionary pressures.
