Satellite imaging is being the most attractive source of information for the governmental agencies and the commercial companies in last decade. The quality of the images is very important ,to pick the valuable information from the details. Satellite images may have unwanted signals(noise) in addition to useful information . There are several image enhancement algorithms to reduce the effects of noise . Many of these algorithms accept several parameters from the user to reach the best results. In the process of denoising, there is always a competition between the noise reduction and the fine preservation. Processing of noisy image may lead to wrong decision of human interpretation, so image filtering is required to ensure better results. The performance of an image filtering system depends on its capability to detect the occurrence of noisy pixels in the image. The earlier image filtering methods has a drawback of pure image quality i.e. low PSNR and high MSE values. In order to eradicate the drawbacks associated with existing filtering methods, a new denoising technique is implemented named as enhanced bilateral filtering by using FPGA to perform the parallelism process for denoising. This new proposed technique gives high image quality with High PSNR and low MSE. Also the FPGA based hardware implementation takes less amount of time to get the filtered result.
